Azimio running mate selection panel on Wednesday called off a press conference that was to announce the top three possible candidates for the seat.
New details indicate that the top three candidates will be unveiled on Thursday.
The Committee has now revealed that the announcement was postponed because of the absence of Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga who is in Malindi for campaigns.
The panel chairperson Noah Wekesa has said that they have the commitment of the ODM boss that he will be available on Thursday to receive the report of the vetting done on Monday and Tuesday.Read More
"We were to present our report today but little did we know that our party leader is out of town. I received the information today morning. Our press statement was prepared knowing that we were going to present the report to Raila," he said.
"He has assured us he will be available tomorrow."
The time and the venue of presenting the report will be communicated in due course.
Wekesa said the report is ready.
The panel interviewed 10 of the 11 shortlisted candidates after Kanu chairman Gideon Moi withdrew stating his name was submitted without his authority.
Those who were interviewed include Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Agriculture CS Peter Munya, former Emgwen MP Stephen Tarus, and Narc boss Charity Ngilu.
Others were Governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru), and Muranga MP Sabina Chege.
