The candidate will officially be unveiled on Sunday by DP William Ruto

Former Nairobi county senatorial aspirant on a UDA ticket Karen Nyamu could have dropped a major hint on who Ruto's camp could finally settle on as the running mate as she left Karen on Saturday night.

Nyamu, who was holed up together with other UDA leaders in Karen for the better part of Saturday, said the UDA team had finally settled on a running mate. According to Nyamu, the decision was majorly based on the interests of the country and its future leadership.

Despite not revealing the name directly, Nyamu said Ruto will officially unveil the candidate to the country on Sunday, May 15 (today). She thanked the other aspirants who had reportedly agreed to step down saying they were equal to the task.

"Its been a long day. We can finally go home to our babies and rest. Kenya Kwanza has settled on a running mate. Its about our country and its future leadership. To the shortlisted candidates. U are all equal to the task and i cant wait for tomorrow when he/she will be unveiled" she said.

It was, however, the decision to accompany the tweet with her picture together with that of Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki. From the picture, the two seemed happy, leaving Kenyans speculating on whether Nyamu had dropped a clear hint on who to expect today.

According to sources privy to Karen's under happenings, the factors that were put into consideration for the selection of Ruto's deputy include political experience, voting dynamics, loyalty to the Kenya Kwanza coalition as well chemistry with Ruto.

The 11-hour stalemate is reported to have been caused by two factions, one supporting Rigathi Gachagua and the other Senator Kithure Kindiki. According to insiders, Gachagua insisted on the post of a running mate or nothing else, despite being promised the post of CS Ministry of Interior in Ruto's cabinet.
