Mathira constituency MP Rigathi Gachagua was on Sunday, announced by Deputy President William Ruto as his running mate in the August 9, general elections.
Gachagua was picked from a group of six potential contestants who had been identified and fronted for the post.
Speaking after landing the post, Gachagua thanked his boss William Ruto and Kenya Kwanza leaders for having faith in his candidature.
Gachagua promised to steer Kenya Kwanza to the next level, saying he will never let down Ruto and the team.
"God has been so gracious to us and we give him the glory. I want to thank Ruto and the other Kenya Kwanza leaders and I promise that I will not let you down, I will not let the Hustler Nation down and the people of Kenya" he stated.

"In this journey, one needs a mentor like the one you have been to us, colleagues and friends like the ones who are here today and most importantly one needs a family that provides a pillar that equips us with the right tools" he added.
Gachagua said his 30 years of work experience will help him in executing his mandates, adding that with the team Ruto has assembled, he believes that they have what it takes to realize the dreams of the hustler nation and will play his part diligently.
Already, celebrations have rocked Karatina town in Nyeri county immediately after Rigathi's nomination.
The team which had taken to the streets on Saturday to protest with "No Rigathi No Ruto" chants couldn't hide their happiness as they laud Ruto for nominating a self-made man who allegedly comes from a little known village in Nyeri.
