According to EACC, Waititu acquired the assets when he was a Member of Parliament for Kabete Constituency and Governor of Kiambu.
The anti-graft commission stated that the former county boss amassed wealth which was not in proportion to his known sources of income.
“Investigations established that the Mr. Ferdinard Ndung'u Waititu Babayao abused his position of trust as a Member of Parliament - Kabete Constituency and later as Governor - Kiambu County for private gain by engaging in transactions which were in conflict with public interest and amassed wealth that was disproportionate to his known legitimate sources of income,” EACC stated.
According to EACC, the move was part of an ongoing recovery of public funds from several county bosses suspected to have accumulated illicit wealth.
