Senior Citizen TV reporter Chemutai Goin has lost his father.

Mzee Andrea Arap Goin died on Wednesday evening.

Deputy President William Ruto is among those who sent his message of condolences to the family.

"Our prayers and thoughts are with relatives and friends of Goin's family following the passing on of Mzee Andrea Arap Goin of Cheplelachbei village in Nandi County. Rest In Peace," Ruto mourned.

Mzee Goin died at 84 at St Luke Hospital, Eldoret where he was undergoing treatment. He succumbed to cancer.

His daughter Chemutai Goin announced his death on Facebook.

"At 84, Dad fought a fight for his life, in the end, he won, some victories are about peace... We mourn now but in the end, it shall be well," she posted.

The late Goin was a dedicated farmer who worked as an agricultural extension officer until his retirement.

He played a crucial role in improving agricultural productivity in the community around him.

Goin was a devoted believer of the Christian faith, a family man, and a mentor whose generosity to the less fortunate was unmatched.

He was a lover of education and was among the initiators of Cheplelachbei primary and secondary schools in Nandi County.
