Former MCA aspirant and businessman Denis Mutegi Mbae has died after being shot by unknown people at Dallas estate, Embu town.
The car was sprayed with over 20 bullets by unknown assailants who sped off in an unregistered vehicle.
He succumbed to the injuries on arrival at Embu level 5 hospital where he was rushed for medication.
Embu West Sub-county police boss Julius Kyumbule confirmed the incident adding that they had commenced investigations into the brutal murder.
Mbae was shot a few meters from his home at Dallas Estate. Nothing was stolen from him during the deadly incident.
Area residents who know him claimed the Former MCA aspirant had frequent runs-in with the law.
The locals said that the deceased had been arrested several times over alleged involvement in crimes.
Embu County Commissioner Edison Nyale confirmed the incident. He said they will release a detailed statement on the matter later on.
