Ruto, during a campaign in Meru county, said that he made Uhuru Kenyatta the president.

ODM Secretary-general Edwin Sifuna has challenged Deputy President William Ruto to make himself the President the way he claims to have made Uhuru Kenyatta.

This comes hours after Ruto said that he made Uhuru Kenyatta the president and the Azimio team had no idea how they did it.

Responding to the remarks on Tuesday, July 5m during an interview, Sifuna said that if the ticket were different and Kenyatta was not at the helm, maybe the turnout of Mt Kenya would not have been the same and the result would have been different.

The Azimio la Umoja candidate for the Nairobi senatorial seat said it was unfortunate that the vitriol against Kenyatta was coming from his deputy Ruto.

"Mt. Kenya voted for Jubilee in 2013 just because President Uhuru was at the top of the ticket. We want to see DP Ruto make himself president the way he has claimed to make President Uhuru.

"The proof of the pudding is in the eating, We want to see DP Ruto make himself president in 2022 the way he has claimed to make President Uhuru. Why the bitterness and the vitriol against the President? They have painted a picture of a lazy, unwilling, and somebody who was just being forced to do a job he was not interested in. This vitriol coming from your deputy is quite unfortunate," he stated.

Ruto has in the last hours in his campaigns branded the Azimio team conmen and hypocrites saying that they cannot lecture him on how to respect President Kenyatta.

"Let me tell them that they don’t know how we made Uhuru Kenyatta the president. We are the ones who worked hard to ensure that we won and the Azimio la Umoja brigade are conmen. Do you think I would have allowed him to give up the job I had worked for together with the people of Kenya? There is no way I could have left Mr. Odinga to take our victory," Ruto said while campaigning in Meru County.
