The DP's response comes after the Tifa poll showed Raila is the most preferred presidential candidate.

Kenya Kwanza Presidential candidate William Ruto has dismissed opinion polls ranking him second, in the presidential race, to ODM leader Raila Odinga as fake.

Addressing a political rally on Monday in Bungoma county, Ruto accused his opponent Raila Odinga and his team of resorting to opinion polls to salvage their dwindling political strength.

Ruto said it is the people of Kenya who will decide the next president of Kenya and not opinion polls which he claimed are choreographed to his disadvantage.

"Wacha kutusumbua na opinion poll wananchi ndio watakaoamua mwezi wa nane," Ruto sad.

"Tumewashinda na manifesto, mipango, sera na campaign. Wamebaki na fake opinion polls. Kazi yao ni kuchora ooh sijui nani atashinda, ooh nani ako mbele, wacha kutusmbua nani, kwani wale wanafanya opinion polls ndio wataamua?"

The comments come after a survey by Trends For Insights Africa showed ODM leader Raila is the most preferred presidential candidate countrywide.

Raila in the poll had 42 percent support while Ruto had 39 percent.

The poll had a +/- 2.34 margin of error.

10 percent of those polled were still undecided, 28 days to the election.

The survey conducted between June 25 to June 30 had 1533 respondents from nine regions across the country.
