Deputy President William Ruto has sent out a message to Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga ahead of the August general election.
Addressing a rally on Monday in Western Kenya, the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate told his Azimio counterpart that he will face him and that this time round, the former Prime Minister will not swear himself in as the president.
The DP claimed Odinga had sensed defeat and that was why he was giving conditions to the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC).
Ata reli hawezi ngo’a na mawe hawezi tupa. Akileta kisirani tunamweka kawa wheelbarrow na kumpeleka mpaka Bondo,” Ruto told a charged crowd.
His remarks come after Raila insisted the IEBC have a manual register incase the digital one fails.
"A manual register is a must in each and every polling station, it's not negotiable. We’re telling the IEBC they must have a manual register along with biometric identification of voters on that day; failure to which, there will be no election," Raila said in Kiambu County.
However, IEBC commissioner Abdi Guliye on Thursday, July 7, said that the manual register would only be used when there is a total breakdown of the digital register.
