A group of Bukusu elders from Trans Nzoia county is demanding an apology from Deputy President William Ruto for belittling Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa.
The DP and CS Wamalwa were recently embroiled in a war of words after the latter claimed Ruto almost slapped him sometime back in 2018.
Elders who addressed the press on Wednesday asked the DP to apologise to Wamalwa after he equated him to a woman.
The group, led by former minister of Forestry and Wildlife Noah Wekesa said the remark by the DP was an abuse to the community adding that it is against their tradition to call a man a woman.

"The DP owes Wamalwa an apology because he never knows who will vote for him. We need to be careful because this tongue can be very dangerous as we have seen in the past," Wekesa said.
Ruto while responding to claims that he almost slapped the Defence CS said: “In our community, we do not slap women, we respect them".
The statement sparked uproar with Eugene telling him that he stooped too low by comparing him to a woman.
He defended himself saying whatever he said about him was not an abuse but a fact.
