The police have closed down a section of Thika Road after a fuel tanker overturned on the highway on Thursday, blocking traffic.
The incident occurred near Roysambu and caused a heavy traffic snarl up along the highway.
According to photos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the tanker had rammed into a section of the highway, spilling fuel across the road.
Oncoming vehicles in the lane where the tanker overturned were stopped at a distance as fuel continued to spill out of the tanker.

Following the incident, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) asked motorists and members of the public to keep off the area.
KeNHA further stated that the police had already responded to the scene and asked the members of the public to cooperate with the authorities.
"KeNHA wishes to notify the public that a section of Thika Superhighway between Roysambu and Githurai (outbound traffic) has been temporarily closed after a petroleum tanker overturned, spilling fuel on the road.
"Police are on site and controlling traffic, as well as ensuring safe evacuation of the tanker. Motorists and members of the public are asked to evacuate from the area and to cooperate with the authorities as the evacuation process takes place," KeNHA stated.
