Azimio and Kenya Kwanza have booked the same venue and date for their last campaign rallies.

A showdown is looming after the Raila Odinga-led Azimio and Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance booked the same venue and date for their last campaign rallies.

In a statement on Tuesday by Azimio secretary general Junet Mohamed, Azimio will hold its last official campaign rally at the Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi on August 6.

“The Azimio campaign team led by Raila Odinga and Martha Karua will hold its last official campaign meeting in Nairobi on 6th August 2022 at Nyayo Stadium,” Junet stated.

However, following the announcement, director of Ruto’s presidential campaigns secretariat Josphat Nanok said that Kenya Kwanza had booked the same venue on the same date.

The Turkana Governor alleged that the Ruto-led alliance booked and paid for Nyayo Stadium on 12 July 2022.

The Ruto campaign secretariat head claimed that Azimio was using a backdoor to use the venue in the said date.

“UDA Kenya Kwanza alliance booked and paid for Nyayo Stadium on 12 July 2022. Azimio using a back door via Homeboys to force the PS ministry of Sports to cancel UDA Kenya Kwanza Alliance booking and confirm theirs. Homeboys purport to book both Nyayo stadium and Kasarani for prayers. What a fraud!” Nanok tweeted.

Meanwhile, Ruto on Tuesday continued with Kenya Kwanza campaigns in the Ukambani region where he rallied the residents to support his presidential candidature.
