Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i has fired back at Deputy President William Ruto over his remarks that the government withdrew National Police Reservists (NPR) from some parts of the North Rift.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, the CS said that currently there were police reservists in the region and there was no time they were withdrawn.
Matiang’i accused Ruto of lying, saying that it is only reviews that are done in the security sector from time to time depending on the needs of a particular area.
“We have National Police Reservists (NPR) in some parts of North Rift. There has never been a time we have withdrawn police officers from a particular part of the country.

“A lot of people lie all the time. Some of them now lie like it is a career. It is like that’s what they went to school to be trained for. You saw those lies yesterday. They lie about everything. Probably the only truth about them is their name,” Matiang’i stated.
The CS said that it could be better if everyone did their job so that they could understand what was happening.
“If they attended the meetings they’re supposed to attend, they would be briefed effectively instead of going to embarrass themselves by saying things that don’t exist,” Matiang’i said.
On Tuesday night, July 26, during the presidential debate, Ruto said that the government had withdrawn police reservists from some parts of the North Rift.
The DP said that the move was meant to punish him as an individual.
“The withdrawal of the National Police Reserve (NPR) was really an unfortunate act but because it was intended to punish William Ruto,” the DP said.
