Kanchory revealed that a group of rowdy people were baying for his blood at the Bomas of Kenya.

Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga's chief agent Saitabao Kanchory has revealed that Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen saved his life on Monday.

In a statement on Twitter, Kanchory revealed that a group of rowdy people were baying for his blood at the Bomas of Kenya.

This is after a confrontation ensued ahead of the declaration of the presidential results.

He said he was almost lynched by the group adding that a group of police officers were part of the scheme.

"It'll be unfair & ungrateful of me not to thank @kipmurkomen for shielding me from the marauding UDA mobs & even some clearly partisan cops baying for my blood @ Bomas today. Thank you Sen. Murkomen. You put your safety in jeopardy for my sake. Political difference is not enmity," he tweeted.

In a rejoinder to his message, Murkomen said:

"Above all we are brothers and sisters and let’s strive peacefully to make our country great. I got a little hurt but I am glad you are safe."

Fracas ensued at the Bomas of Kenya where a group of people caused a push and pull at the time when IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati was to announce the presidential results.

The session was interrupted briefly before order was restored and Chebukati was called in to announce the president elect.

Ruto's United Democratic Alliance candidate garnered 7,176,141 votes (50.49 percent), defeating Azimio flag bearer Raila Odinga who won 6,942,930 votes (48.85 percent).

He exceeded the 50 percent plus 1 threshold.

Of the 47 counties, Ruto garnered more than 25 percent of the votes cast in 39, exceeding the minimum 24 counties required by the Constitution. Raila achieved 25 percent of the votes cast in 34 counties.

Roots Party presidential hopeful George Wajackoyah came a distant third with 61,969 votes followed by Agano’s David Mwaure, who polled 31,987 votes.
