Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni has congratulated William Ruto after he was declared President elected by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati.
In a message on Tuesday, August 16, the Ugandan President disclosed that he had called Ruto and assured him of support from the neighboring country.
"On behalf of all Ugandans, I congratulate Your Excellency William Ruto upon your election as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya. Further to my telephone call last night upon your victory, I wish to reassure you of Uganda’s commitment to continue partnering with Kenya in advancing regional and continental agenda through the East African Community, African Union, and other multilateral platforms.
"Our bilateral cooperation will score tremendous achievements and I look forward to working more closely with you. God bless Kenya. God bless East Africa," part of the statement read.

South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has also sent a congratulatory message to Ruto.
"I offer my warm congratulations to President-Elect William Ruto of the Republic of Kenya. A prosperous and united Kenya is an important prerequisite for and contributor to a prosperous and peaceful continent. We look forward to working with you in pursuit of #TheAfricaWeWant," Ramaphosa stated.
