Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua has said that the Kenya Kwanza government will accord the outgoing President, Uhuru Kenyatta, the respect he deserves as he retires.
Speaking in Nyeri County on Thursday, Gachagua said that President Kenyatta will get security from the Kenya Kwanza government as it is contained in the Constitution.
The Deputy President-elect said that even if the outgoing President needed anything that was not included in the constitution, the Kenya Kwanza government will provide it.
“Rais Uhuru Kenyatta ni kiongozi wetu. Akistaafu atapata heshima yake iliyo ndani ya katiba. Atapata ulinzi kutoka kwa serikali yetu na atapata yote yenye yako kwa katiba. Ata kama kitu kuna kitu anataka zaidi ambayo haiko kwa katiba, William Ruto na mimi tutapatia yeye aende apumzike,” Gachagua stated.

He further said that the Cabinet Secretaries and senior civil servants from the Nyeri region will retire in peace as the Kenya Kwanza government held nothing against them.
Gachagua, however, advised the leaders to invest in the homeland upon their retirement so as to create employment for the young people.
“Hawa viongozi wetu ambao watastaafu na Uhuru Kenyatta, I request you to come and invest at home so that you can create employment for our young people,” Gachagua stated.
He was speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga after being re-elected on a UDA ticket.
