Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has conceded defeat to Fernandes Barasa who has been declared Kakamega Governor-elect.
IEBC declared Barasa the winner after he garnered 192,929 votes while Malala bagged 159,508.
In a statement via Twitter on Tuesday, August 30, Malala congratulated Fernandes Barasa and his team for their win.
The former Senator also lauded IEBC for a fair and credible election.
"Today, alongside my Deputy, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, Hon. Benjamin Washiali and my wife, Mrs. Carolyne Malalah, we wish to thank the residents of Kakamega county for believing in our leadership and voting resoundingly for brand Cleo Malalah.

"I congratulate governor-elect, Hon. FCPA. Fernandes Barasa and his team for their win. It is deserved and indisputable. I am ready to offer any part of my manifesto that they may find suitable in their new government for the progress of Kakamega. I also laud IEBC for conducting free, fair, credible and verifiable elections.
"Not all losses are losses, some are lessons. Time is high for Kakamega County residents, regardless of their political side to rally behind the Governor for the county to realize her full socio economic potential. We live to fight another day," the statement reads in part.
Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has also congratulated Barasa and Abdulswamad Nassir after winning the governor seats in the respective counties.
"Kakamega na Mombasa mumedhihirisha kwamba Kenya nzima ni Azimio. Hongera Fernandes Barasa na Abdulswamad Nassir. To our loyal supporters who came out to vote for them and Azimio as a whole on the 9th of August, I say Thank You. Better days are coming," Odinga stated.
