Siaya Governor James Orengo has rejected a budget allocation of Sh79 million set a side for the construction of a Governor and Deputy Governor residences.
In a statement after reports of the groundbreaking ceremony of the said project, Orengo noted that the construction of the governor's residence is not a priority of his government.
He at the same time noted that the officers who took party in the project did not have the authority to do so.
"Let me state categorically that construction of Governor and Deputy Governor's residence is not a priority of Siaya County government and the officers involved in the purported ground breaking for it's development did not have authority to do so," he said.

The governor's residence was to be constructed at Got Akara in Alego Usonga constituency.
Reports on the plans of the two houses indicated that the two homes will have modern facilities like the gym, board room, accessible road, ample parking space among other things.
Governor's residence was to cost a whooping Sh44m while that of his deputy was to cost Sh35m.
“We have handed over the site to the contractor today. The land that was acquired by the county government for the same purpose will also have the County Assembly Speaker’s residence,” the Governance and Administration Chief Officer Joseph Omondi told nation
He added:
“We settled on Got Akara because it is a safe place for the county chiefs. It is also close to the office of the governor, therefore it would be easy for them to access the office right on time.”
