Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are in pursuit of a suspect who stabbed a 51-year-old man to death during an argument over supply of water at an Eastleigh apartment in Nairobi.
In a statement by DCI on Monday, September 12, the suspect, who was identified as Issa, is reported to have killed Abdifatah Hassan Barre using a Somali sword.
The George Kinoti-led directorate stated that according to Barre’s son Mohamud Abdifatah Hassan, the deceased had been asked by a client to supply water using his water bowser at an establishment near Almin Hospital in Eastleigh.
However, when Barre and his son arrived at the location, they were confronted by a group of businessmen who claimed that the duo had invaded their water vending territory.

According to DCI, a bitter exchange later ensued before the deceased was stabbed on the left side of his chest.
“A bitter exchange of words ensued before the suspect reached for a Somali sword and in one powerful thrust, struck the deceased on the left side of his chest killing him instantly. The suspect then fled the scene to an unknown destination,” DCI stated.
The Directorate said that efforts to save Barre’s life were fruitless as he was confirmed dead upon arrival at Almin Hospital where he had been rushed.
Detectives are following crucial leads to apprehend the suspect and face judges in court.
