“Losing a 28-year-old (Dr Stephen Mogusu) is heartbreaking; we are in discussions to ensure that the family is able to get the aid they require but additionally that we are able to ensure that this isn't a situation that recurs among other healthcare workers,” she said.
Earlier today, doctors under their umbrella body the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) demanded that the government must settle the medical bill left by the late Dr Mogusu .
The doctors want the Ministry of Health to take responsibility for Dr Mogusu’s death and clear the outstanding bill which is reported to be Sh800,000.
"I have been in touch with the family and they had to fundraise for Sh200,000 as deposit for admission to the ICU. Mogusu has left behind a bill the family is not sure how to clear," KMPDU Secretary General Chibanzi Mwachonda said.
“His death and that of 12 others…We demand MoH to take full responsibility outstanding bill and compensation of families,” he added.
