Renowned Kenyan lawyer Ahmednasir has opined that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is highly likely to oppose the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum set for 2021.
In a tweet, the Senior Counsel predicted that it is highly likely that Kenyans will not vote in the BBI referendum, adding that should they vote, it is highly likely that Odinga will be leading the opposing side.
“Breaking News. (a) 80% chance that Kenyans will not vote in a referendum to change the Constitution (BBI) in 2021 (b) In the unlikely event that Kenyans go to referendum to change the Constitution (BBI) in 2021, 95% chance that Hon Raila and ODM will lead the NO vote!” he posted.
Ahmednasir made the bold prediction after reports on The Star indicated that the ODM team is unhappy with amendment made to some sections of the BBI document.

According to the report, ODM is particularly unhappy with amendments made on the distribution of the 70 new constituencies and appointment of IEBC commissioners.
“Prior to the launch of the signature campaign, the Bill was printed in the morning. In view of the hurry to print the Bill for the launch some matters agreed upon between the parties were left out. Key among them are the IEBC reforms and the list of counties to benefit from the 70 additional constituencies,” ODM’s alleged statement read in part as reported by The Star.
