A section of leaders from the Ukambani region have defended the woman arrested over the recent hospitalization of Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda.
Last week, Senator Mutinda was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital ICU after collapsing at a Kilimani house alongside the lady identified as Esther Muli.
Following the incident, Esther was questioned by detectives in a bid to establish what happened prior to the Senator’s illness.
After preliminary investigations, the lady was taken in and presented before the court on Monday, where it was directed that she be held for 7 days to enable the police to probe the allegations of attempted murder of Senator Mutinda.

Reacting to the ruling, a section of Ukambani leaders termed the lady as harmless noting that she should be set free.
“I send my Poles to the Family of the Hon. Senator, Machakos as we pray for his speedy recovery. However the Rule of Law demands equal treatment for all. A caring lady( from Makueni)who takes a gentleman in distress to hospital cannot be a murderer. She deserves bail and justice,” Governor Kibwana tweeted.
On his part, Makueni MP Dan Maazo who also happens to be her lawyer noted that the test results will vindicate her client.
“She cannot even hurt a fly… It is either the test results will free her or, if not, we will meet in court,” he told the Standard during an interview.
