NPS has set the deadline for the applications for the post of DCI on October 6.

The National Police Service has named Massai Hamisi Salim as the temporary Director of Criminal Investigations.

Salim will act until a permanent replacement is recruited to take over from former DCI boss George Kinoti.

President William Ruto announced on Tuesday that Kinoti had tendered his resignation from the service.

Ruto had also announced that Inspector General of police had opted to proceed on terminal leave.

It is then that he said Kinoti had also called it quits.

"I have also received the resignation of DCI Kinoti and directed the National Police Service to proceed with advertising that position. Meanwhile, they should get somebody to act in that position," Ruto directed then.

The appointment of Salim was announced by NPS in a statement Thursday evening.

"NPSC appoints Massa Hamisi Salim as the Director of Criminal Investigation in an acting capacity until the position is filled substantively and competitively in at least 14 days," MPS stated in their statement.

NPS has set the deadline for the applications for the post of DCI on October 6.

Interview as for the role will thereafter proceed after the shortlisting of candidates.

Mutyambai severed ties with Ruto who accused him of weaponizing war on corruption and arresting his allies for making no mistake.
