The Head of State made a surprise visit to Parliament on Wednesday, October 5.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has said that President William Ruto on Wednesday, October 5, visited Parliament canteen to have lunch.

The Head of State was spotted at Parliament building along with his new aide-de-camp among other officials.

Wetangula, however, said that regular consultations between the legislature and the executive will provide an opportunity for diverse voices to be heard on matters citizenry.

"Regular consultations between the Legislature and the Executive will provide opportunities for diverse voices to be heard on issues that matter to the citizenry. Had the pleasure of hosting H.E. President William Ruto who dropped by the Members’ canteen at Parliament for lunch," Wetangula stated.

President Ruto's visit to Parliament comes at a time when a standoff has persisted in the National Assembly over the majority leadership of the House.

Both the Head of State's Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Raila Odinga's Azimio have maintained that they hold the majority in Parliament and hence deserve the majority leadership.

Wetangula retreated on Tuesday to prepare the ruling after a heated debate on the same. He promised to deliver the ruling on Thursday, October 6.

"I will consider the matter that you have prosecuted before the house and I will give you a reasoned ruling touching to the facts, the jurisprudence the constitutionality of the issue and any other matters that we conversed on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 2:30pm," Wetangula stated.
