Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua flew out on Thursday, October 13, for his first official foreign trip. 

The Deputy President will be in Kigali, Rwanda to attend the YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2022. 

Rigathi was accompanied by Kiharu Member of parliament Ndindi Nyoro, Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang'wa, Bomet County Woman Representative Linet Toto, and South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro. 

The Deputy President is expected to be among the speakers at the summit. The summit will be held from October 13th to 15th in Rwanda.

YouthConnekt Africa (YCA) is an African home-grown solution positioned to provide relevant solutions for the global South and to support the implementation of relevant South-South initiatives to empower youth.

The YCA operates as a pan-African platform with the vision of connecting African youth for socio-economic transformation. The platform seeks to empower young people through enhancing their knowledge, experiences and skills while investing in their ideas, innovations and initiatives. 

Among the themes for this year's summit are; Youth Discourse for Peace, Reimagining Business for Africa’s Cultural and Creative Industry and Sports Economy, and Leapfrogging into the Digital Era.
