The director general of Immigration services Alexander Muteshi has reminded the public that the old-generation Kenya passport will stop being used effective November 30.
In a statement dated Monday, October 17, Muteshi asked Kenyans to mark the date and comply with requisite regulations to ensure that they are within the new regulations.
The Director General further said that the biometric e-passport will begin being used effectively on December 1.
The e-passport was adopted by the East African community to ease the movement of people within the East African Countries.

"The deadline for phasing of the Old generation Kenya passport is November 30, 2022. Kenya will migrate fully to using the news East African Community Biometric e-passport on December 1, 2022," Muteshi said
He further said that the renewal and replacement of the old generation Kenya passport will continue normally.
This will be done in passport application centres locally and in missions abroad after the deadline.
