In the changes, the Groups Editor in Chief Muthuma Mathiu has been 'demoted' to a consulting editor

The Nationa Media Group has made major changes in the top leadership of its management.

In Changes seen by Nairobi Leo Veteran Journalist Joe Ageyo has been promoted to the group's editorial director.

Initially, he was the Editorial Director of the broadcast section.

Ageyo will be tasked with driving the newsroom transformation and managing all editorial operations.

In the changes, the Groups Editor in Chief Muthuma Mathiu has been 'demoted' to a consulting editor. His duties will be to support Group Editorial Director Joe Ageyo on Specific Editorial projects.

The Chief Operating Officer of the company will be Monicah Ndungu. Ndungu will drive the organisational transformation, product strategy, strategy implementation and broadcasting.

The changes also saw Richard Tobiko appointed the group's chief finance officer. He is expected to drive finance, production, procurement, distribution, legal and security.

He said the changes were long overdue.

"This was inevitable...when you allow a newspaper of the standing, history and prestige of the Daily Nation to be run from the Office of the President and CID HQ...heads will eventually roll...I hope @jageyo can restore the @Nation_Politics to what it was," he tweeted.
