The ruling Kenya Kwanza faction has fired back at Azimio leader Raila Odinga over his remarks that Kenyans were feeling the heat of the economy and should be asked to pay extra taxes.
In a statement on Friday, November 4, Kenya Kwanza asked the former Prime Minister to be sincere in his government criticism, maintaining that he already admitted that the government inherited a dilapidated economy.
"While we laud him (Raila) for taking his rightful role in the opposition to check the Kenya Kwanza administration, we also ask him to be sincere in his criticism. It is in Mr. Odinga's admission that the Kenya Kwanza administration inherited a dilapidated economy from the Jubilee administration," read part of the statement.
Kenya Kwanza further claimed that Raila was at the centre of the Jubilee administration through the famous handshake.

It blamed Raila for abandoning his oversight role as leader of the opposition and became part of the government, where it alleged there was mismanagement of the economy.
"What Odinga is not telling Kenyans is that he was at the center of the Jubilee administration courtesy of the handshake deal. Therefore, he should be the last person to give us a lecture on how to drive the economy," the statement further read.
Kenya Kwanza asked the former Prime Minister to stay put as it fixes the current economic state in the country.
It added that President William Ruto's administration was voted for by millions of Kenyans who believed in its agenda, claiming that the administration is cleaning the country of the mess made by the handshake.
"We want to tell the Azimio leader to relax and watch how we are fixing this nation. You cannot be responsible for destroying our country then turn around and start issuing us with ultimatums," Kenya Kwanza added.
