Kasavuli made a comeback to news anchoring in recent months after KBC relaunched itself

Popular Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) journalist Catherine Kasavuli has been diagnosed with cancer.

The journalist who also anchored the news at KTN News is currently admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital.

KBC Managing director Samuel Maina has confirmed the reports and made appeals to the public to donate blood for her.

"Dear friends, colleagues and well-wishers. Our dear colleague Catherine Kasavuli is hospitalized at the KNH Private Wing after being diagnosed with cervical cancer. For those who can, she needs blood transfusion urgently. Your prayers and moral support will be very welcome," Maina said in a statement.

Kasavuli made a comeback to news anchoring in recent months after KBC relaunched itself in a bid to gain back its lost glory.

She is among the top news anchors who were brought back despite having retreated to retirement many years ago.

She, however, went missing from broadcasting again in the last few days with the latest communication about her sickness confirming Kenyans' worries.

Kasavuli is among the pioneers of broadcast journalism and her prowess in the field kept many Kenyans glued on TV.

She mentored and inspired many to pursue a career in journalism.
