"We would like to apologize for the delays and disruptions that have been experienced in the recent past."

National carrier Kenya Airways has apologised over flight delays and disruptions by the airline in the recent past.

In a statement on Wednesday, September 4, KQ disclosed that the delays were caused by unscheduled engine overhaul that resulted in the grounding of two dreamliners.

“Kenya Airways would like to apologize for the delays and disruptions that have been experienced in the recent past.

"These have been caused by unscheduled engine overhaul and unforeseen engine supply chain constraints, thus resulting in us having two (2) 787 Dreamliner aircraft grounded," KQ stated.

The airline noted that it was currently with its engine manufacturers to find a solution, which includes finding replacements for the engines.

Kenya Airways affirmed that the solution will be soon, adding that in case it takes longer, it shall realign its network to reduce the flight delays.

"We do however expect this to be resolved shortly, and we will keep you updated. In the event that this takes longer than expected, we shall realign our network to reduce on the number of delays or rescheduled flights," KQ remarked.

The airline requested its customers to update their booking contact details in the interim so that it can offer timely flight updates.

"In the interim, we kindly request that you update your booking contact details (email and phone number) directly with KQ via our website Flight Status (kenya-airways.com) or call our Customer Excellence Center via +254 711 024 747, WhatsApp: +254 705 474 747 or X @KQSupport. This is to enable us to provide you with timely flight updates," Kenya Airways stated.

On August 5, KQ announced flight changes on a number of routes, including the introduction of daily flights to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to meet the high market demand.

At the same time, the airline disclosed that, effective August 9, it would suspend all five flights to Bangui, Central Africa.
