Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has said 18 investors have been shortlisted to establish agro-processing and manufacturing factories at Sagana Industrial Park.
In a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, March 19, the Governor revealed that 54 investment applications were received, but only 18 were selected.
Waguru noted that the investors would set up industries dealing in the processing and manufacturing of goods for export, especially agricultural leather and textiles.
At the same time, the park has been endorsed by key national government agencies responsible for local and international market linkages.
During a visit, officials from five major government marketing and branding agencies commended the County Government of Kirinyaga for its progress in completing the park’s aggregation facilities.

The agencies present included the State Department for Trade, Kenya National Multi-Commodities Exchange Company Limited (KOMEX), and Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA).
Others were the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) and the Warehouse Receipt System Council (WRS).

KOMEX Acting CEO Fanuel Kidenda applauded Kirinyaga’s efforts in advancing the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs).
"In our assessment so far, this is the seventh CAIP project we have visited across the country. Kirinyaga County is right at the top, it’s among the top two in terms of level of completion and we are pleased with that," Kidenda said.
