Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has stated that one of the hardest decisions a father can make is allowing their daughter to get married.
Speaking on Saturday, December 7, during Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's daughter's wedding in Naivasha, Uhuru disclosed that he had to deliberately delay the wedding of his daughter Ngina Kenyatta.
The retired Head of State noted that he tried every trick to hold her daughter back, including urging her to wait a little bit, before he eventually ran out of excuses.
“Stephen (Kalonzo), I can assure you that you have no need to worry. One of the most difficult things is saying goodbye to a daughter. I went through the same.
"I tried to use every excuse in my book to delay the wedding; blaming COVID-19, preparing for the general election, and urging her to wait a little while to plan because it was not yet time. Eventually, I ran out of excuses," Uhuru remarked.

The former president, however, congratulated the groom, Martin Nyaga, for choosing to tie the knot with Kalonzo's daughter, Damarie Saada, in an acceptable way culturally.
"Some just come and take what they want and they don't have regard to family or culture. You only hear about things happening years later. You have decided to come through the front door. That is the sign of a boy well brought up. We congratulate you," Uhuru stated.
Meanwhile, Uhuru's daughter Ngina got married in June 2022 in a private ceremony at State House House, Nairobi.
Ngina got married to Alex Mwai, the son of Sam Mwai, a renowned sports marketing guru and manager of the Karen Country Club.
