Former Citizen TV news anchor Janet Mbugua has secured a new role at the Nation Media Group (NMG).
In a statement to NMG staff on Friday, January 24, NMG Head of Broadcasting Simaloi Dajom announced that Mbugua had joined the Kimathi Street-based media house and described her as a skilled journalist.
"I am excited to inform you that renowned media personality, Janet Mbugua, has joined Nation Media Group. Janet is highly skilled in engaging audiences on TV, radio, & digital media.
"She has previously worked as a prime-time news anchor, show host & content producer for major outlets in Kenya & South Africa. Janet is an advocate of inclusivity for women and girls and is also passionate in amplifying voices for social change," Dajom stated.
She, however, did not disclose the position Mbugua will take up at the media house.

"She joins a vibrant team dedicated to delivering compelling, solution-driven content across our multimedia platforms. Please join me in extending a warm NMG welcome to Janet," Dajom remarked.
She added, "Let us provide her with the support she needs to settle and thrive in her role as we drive our shared vision of positively influencing society."
Mbugua's comeback to the mainstream media comes after an eight-year break.
She left Citizen TV in April 2017 after serving at the Royal Media Services-owned station for a number of years.
Mbugua joined NMG moments after former Standard Group journalist Eric Latiff joined the Kimathi Street-based media house.
