The Kenya Met Department has warned members of the public to expect continued heavy downpour.
In a weather forecast on Thursday May 16, the weatherman noted that heavy rainfall will be experienced in five regions including the Central Highlands.
Other parts that will experience the heavy downpour include Western Kenya, parts of Northwestern, the lake Victoria basin and the Rift Valley region.
“Expect continued rainfall in the Central Highlands (incl. Nairobi), Western Kenya, parts of Northwestern, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley regions. Isolated heavy rainfall events likely in these areas,” the Met Department warned.
The weatherman man also warned of sporadic showers in Machakos and Kajiado counties.

At the same time, the Met Department noted that the rest of the country would experience generally dry conditions.
In addition, the Met Department said that strong southeasterly winds of over 25 knots (12.5 m/s) were expected in the eastern half and northwestern region.
“Strong southerly/southeasterly winds over 25 knots (12.5 m/s) in the Eastern half and Northwestern region,” the weatherman added.
On Wednesday, the Met Department said there would be no serious flooding in the country over the next few days.
The weatherman urged members of the public interested in outdoor activities to proceed since the weather conditions were becoming favorable.
“The peak of rains was in April, so no severe flooding is likely. Occasional rain is however likely over Western Kenya, parts of the Rift Valley, Central Kenya, and coastal strip. Game parks should generally be accessible,” the department stated.
