Stolen firearm recovered by police officers in Githurai, Nairobi County.

In April, DCI detectives gunned down a suspected gang member who was found with a pistol that was stolen from Vihiga Police Station OCS in December 2023.

The officer who was on patrol was stabbed severally before his firearm which was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition was stolen.

After days of surveillance, detectives responded to an intelligence report received through the DCI hotline from an anonymous caller who reported seeing a suspicious car with three armed men at KU Farm in Mwiki.

The DCI officers approached the scene and ordered the suspected gang members to surrender, but two of them escaped while the third suspect, who was in possession of the stolen gun, attempted to exchange fire with the detectives before being shot dead.
