Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across eight counties on Wednesday.

Kenya Power has announced that parts of Nairobi and seven other counties will experience scheduled power interruptions on Wednesday, July 16. 

In a statement on Tuesday, July 15, the company attributed the power outages to planned maintenance works.

In Nairobi County, residents in parts of Karen will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas set to be affected include Seminary Road, Seminary Drive, Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Bogani East Road, part of Magadi Road, Park Palace, Multimedia University.

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Mukoma Road, Ndorobo Road, Giraffe Center, Brookhouse, Banda School, Banda Lane, Saifee Park, and surrounding neighborhoods will also be affected.

In Makueni County, several locations including Emali, Nziu, and Sultan will be impacted during the same hours. 

Areas listed for the outage include Mulala, Kithumani, Masokani, Kikumini, Masumba, Welfare, Matiliku, Kilili, Kalamba, Katulye, Upendo, and adjacent communities.

Nandi County will also see disruptions, with Kapnyeria and neighboring areas expected to be without power between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Homa Bay County will also experience outages, covering various areas in Ndhiwa Constituency, Mfangano Island, and parts of Oyugis. 

In Ndhiwa, affected regions include Ojode Pala, Rakoro, Gaena, Arcon, Ojode Unga, Pala Koguta, Agudo, Ototo, Kalamindi Oridi, Rapedhi, Nguku, Ligodho, Thuon Gweno, Amoyo, Riat, and Otange. 

The entire Mfangano Island will also be affected, including Wasamo, Uozi, Ugina, Mauta, Kitenyi, Siambi, Sena, Ramba, Kakimba, and Yokia.

In Oyugis, power will be cut in areas such as Zuri Place, Kauko Primary School, Ouru Market, Mathenge Market, God Ber Secondary School, the Deputy Governor’s Homestead, Nyangiela Market, Kuoyo Market, Kamuga Safaricom Booster and Primary School, Nyagowa Market, Ragwe Market, God Kwach Market, Magungu Market, Got Nyalgosi Market, Dol Kodera Market, Ombek Centre, and surrounding customers.

Nyeri County will face outages in two main areas. 

Kanjuri and Gitima-Ini will lose power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Kanjuri High School, Kanjuri Dispensary, Kanjuri Market, Giagathege TBC and Village, Kinganga Village, Kiunjugi TBC, Kariambi TBC, Gitima-Ini Market, Kihari Village, Gitima-Ini Dispensary, and mobile network boosters. 

Karundas and Maragima areas will experience a longer outage, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Karundas Secondary School, Karundas area, Kids Alive, Maragima Secondary School, and the Maragima Chief's Camp.

In Tharaka Nithi County, residents in Marimanti and Gatunga will be affected between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

Facilities such as Tharaka University, Tharaka Technical College, Gatunga Market, and network boosters in Gathangachini and Ruungu will be offline during this period.

Kirinyaga County is also on the list, with planned outages in Togonye and South Ngariama from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas to be affected include part of Majengo, part of PIAI, Estana Hotel, PK Njuguna, Rogoi, Mugamba Ciura, Murinduko, Togonye St. Susan, Kariati, Kadawa, Gold, Mumbu, Itangi, South Ngariama, Ikurungu Hospital, Morgan, Skai Sana, and Gathigini Primary School.

Kilifi County will witness interruptions in parts of Mariakani between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

Affected areas include Mariakani Town, Mariakani Secondary School, Mariakani Polytechnic, Kadzandani Jakaba, Kadzonzo Secondary School, Sheeriji Chemicals, Mwareni, Tsangatsini, Bamba Town, and Mtara Tsatu.
