However, a section of Kenyans on X rallied behind him, saying that he should not be scared and should ignore the texts.
"They are looking for your attention. Bring their handles; we deal with them this way. You better ignore them," an X user replied to him.
Madowo has been on the front lines, covering the anti-finance protests in Nairobi Central Business District.
The veteran journalist castigated some instances of excessive force by police during the protests.
In a previous video seen by Nairobi Leo, Madowo confronted a group of anti-riot police officers who lobbed a teargas cannister at his crew as they covered the protests.
"Stop teargassing us. What are you doing? We are doing our work," he told the officers.
On his X account, Madowo has also been calling out the security officers for brutality during the protests.
"I saw police shoot dead unarmed young men in front of Kenya's parliament," he posted previously on X.
