"We want to see in ODM if indeed they say these people went on their own without the authority of the party."

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has directed Members of Parliament of the party to reject the four ODM cabinet nominees.

Speaking during a church service in Mwingi on Sunday, July 28, the Kalonzo ordered the lawmakers to vote 'no' when the names will be brought for vetting.

“I have given a directive as Wiper leader that those four names (Wycliffe Oparanya, Hassan Joho, John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi), when they come to parliament for vetting, Wiper members should vote ‘no’,” Kalonzo ordered.

The former vice president went ahead to challenge the Raila Odinga-led ODM party to prove that indeed, the nominees did not have the blessing of the party.

"ODM has become a big trap. If the members of the party will vote 'yes' to approve the four, then the country will believe that the party was lying on members joining the government on individual capacities," remarked Kalonzo.

ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He added, "These are leaders of ODM. Now we want to see in ODM if indeed they say these people went on their own without the authority of the party."

Kalonzo further noted that he could have been at least consulted as a co-principal of the Azimio coalition, claiming that he was unaware of the names.

According to a notice by Parliament, the vetting of the cabinet nominees will kick off on Thursday, August 1, with Interior CS nominee Kithure Kindiki facing the vetting committee first.

Health CS nominee Dr. Debra Barasa will then follow before her Lands counterpart, Alice Wahome, faces the committee.

Subsequently, Education CS nominee Julius Ogamba and Soipan Tuya (Defence) will follow before Andrew Mwihia (Agriculture) culminates the day.

The vetting will continue up to Sunday, August 4.
