On Tuesday, a section of UDA members announced the ouster of Malala as the party secretary general.

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala has disputed reports alleging that he has stepped down from his position in the ruling party.

In a statement on Tuesday, June 30, Malala asked the public to ignore the reports, which he termed propaganda.

The former Kakamega senator noted that the ruling party was stable and behind the president, even as he dismissed the letter purporting to be his resignation as fake.

"Ignore propaganda. The party is stable and focused on helping President William Ruto achieve his agenda for Kenya," Malala remarked.

The letter alleged that Malala stepped down from the position after reflecting on the current state of the party and the broader political landscape.

On Tuesday, a section of UDA members announced the ouster of Malala as the party secretary general.

The group, led by lawyer Joe Khalende, stormed the UDA's headquarters in Ngong Road before the lawyer declared himself the new secretary general.

Khalende accused Malala of abandoning his duties and supporting agendas that contradicted the party.

"We are here to confirm that Cleophas Malala is no longer the secretary general of UDA party. I Joe Khalende will be taking over. He is supporting the TAWE movement and agendas which contradict the ruling party. He has gone against our party leader," Khalende told the press.
