This comes after Malala denied reports that he had resigned from his position in the ruling party.

A section of supporters of UDA Party Secretary General Cleophas Malala stormed the party's headquarters in Nairobi on Wednesday, July 31.

This comes after a section of members of the ruling party, led by lawyer Joe Khalende, claimed to have ousted Malala from his position on Tuesday.

In a video seen by Nairobileo.co.ke on Wednesday, police were forced to intervene and handle the situation after the supporters turned up in large numbers outside the party premises.

They could be heard shouting 'tunataka Malala' as some of them carried placards with the words 'bila Malala ni taabu kubwa'.

The police guarded the entrance to the party's headquarters on Ngong Road to prevent them from entering as other officers drove them away.

This comes after Malala denied reports that he had resigned from his position in the ruling party.

The former Kakamega senator noted that the ruling party was stable and behind the president, even as he dismissed the letter purporting to be his resignation as fake.

"Ignore propaganda. The party is stable and focused on helping President William Ruto achieve his agenda for Kenya," Malala remarked.

On Tuesday, a section of UDA members led by lawyer Khalende stormed the party's headquarters before the lawyer declared himself the new secretary general.

Khalende accused Malala of abandoning his duties and supporting agendas that contradicted the party.
