President Ruto has announced he will be embarking on an official visit to China on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Speaking on Friday August 30 in Siaya, President Ruto said he will be signing a Ksh 40 billion funding for roads during his visit to China.
"We have many roads here in Siaya that are stuck, and that's why we've put in place a new plan. We have the first Ksh 56 billion for road projects. This Sunday, I am going to China to sign another program for Ksh 40 billion for road projects,” Ruto announced.
The Head of State had been grounded for almost a month due to the nationwide Gen Z-led anti-finance bill protests which later scaled to anti-government protests.
President Ruto traveled for the first time in over a month on August 11 to attend the inauguration ceremony of Rwandese President Paul Kagame.

Prior to this, Ruto traveled to Southern Italy on June 13 to attend the G7 Summit. He also visited Switzerland before returning to Kenya.
Meanwhile, President Ruto is also expected to travel to Berlin, Germany in mid-September to attend the Citizens Festival.
The German government has confirmed that President Ruto will grace the event as a special guest.
“Pamoja – stronger together is the motto of this year's Citizen's Festival. It picks up a Swahili term and thus highlights the special focus of the festival: our neighboring continent, Africa. With the Republic of Kenya, whose President William Samoei Ruto will travel to the festival, a non-European state is for the first time the international partner country of the festival,” read the statement by the German government.
