The governor made the remarks following public uproar from Kenyans.

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has distanced himself and his family over allegations of orchestrating the attack on blogger Bruce John.

While addressing the media on Monday, September 30, Nassir expressed that he would never cross the line of harming anyone.

The Mombasa Governor claimed that he was shocked after being linked to the attack which was also characterized by sodomy.

"Throughout my life, neither myself nor any of my family members have ever crossed the line of meting any form of violence on anyone," he stated.

"It is shocking that it is now being deemed that myself and my 74-year-old mother would be part and parcel of a hideous act of this magnitude."

According to Nassir, his name and that of his family was being linked to the incident for political reasons.

On the other hand, the county boss revealed that he had received messages from the blogger before.

However, he reiterated that he did not have anything to do with the attack on the blogger who is perceived to have criticized his administration.

Consequently, Nassir maintained that he was willing to cooperate with the authorities.

The Mombasa blogger was attacked weeks ago and was hospitalized over the incident.

DCI even released a statement on the attack, promising to bring all those involved to book.

"Investigations are ongoing where it is expected that more suspects who were adversely mentioned and are connected to the heinous acts will be arrested and arraigned," read the statement in part.

"The DCI has further summoned Senior Mombasa County Government officials who are believed to have collaborated with the perpetrators of the heinous acts with a view to establish their roles and charge them accordingly."
