Environment CS Aden Duale has directed the Chief Conservator of Forests to interdict rangers who were filmed assaulting a man in Lunga Lunga.

In a statement released on Wednesday, November 20, the CS revealed that one officer captured in the video had already been interdicted.

He condemned the actions of the officers, stating that they did not have a place in society.

"I acknowledge KFS's swift decision to interdict one of the Officers. However, it is clear from the video that more than one ranger was involved," read the statement in part.

"I therefore direct the Chief Conservator of Forests @CCF_Kenya to immediately interdict the rest of the Rangers involved in accordance with established procedures."

According to Duale's statement, the rangers had caught the man conducting illegal logging in the forest.

"In as much as the Government is firm in its determination to end all forms of forest crimes including illegal logging, such brutal acts that are clearly a violation of human dignity and rights cannot be condoned," the CS noted.

In the viral video, the rangers accused the man of defying government policies on logging despite several warnings.

At some point, the man was ordered to lie down while a ranger stepped on his neck while caning him.
