"She is currently admitted to a hospital in serious condition," police said.
In their appeal, the police pleaded with Njeru to show up at any police station to aid in investigations.
Further, the police called on the public to help in tracing him.
"Meanwhile, we call upon the said suspect to present himself at the nearest police station or police officer. We are also appealing to any member of the public with information that may lead to his arrest to inform the nearest police station," the police stated.
Meanwhile, leaders came out to condemn the violence perpetrated on the victim.
Governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga) and Nakuru's Susan Kihika called on the investigators to expedite the probe and bring the suspect before justice.
"I wish to condemn the tragic incident in Nakuru, where a man attacked his wife over a domestic dispute. Whatever the disagreement, we should never resort to violence. Gender-based violence has no place in our society. I call on investigative authorities to apprehend the perpetrator and ensure justice. I also pray for Shiku’s healing and quick recovery," said Waiguru.
This came days after President William Ruto announced a nationwide campaign to address the menace of femicide and violence against women.
Ruto explained that the leaders would raise awareness of the signs of Gender Based Violence (GBV) while informing the public of the safe spaces and avenues where they can get help.
Ruto called on parents and girls to be vigilant on social media, given that some criminals were taking advantage of the networking platforms to lure their victims.
On the other hand, the president directed police to expedite investigations into reported femicide cases.
