Kenya Airways has announced flight disruptions at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

In a statement dated Thursday, December 12, the national carrier attributed the disruption to the temporary closure of the JKIA runway.

Kenya Airways added that the runway had been closed to facilitate military drills witnessed during the Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Consequently, the national carrier noted that there would be delays in the arrival and departure time for flights that were scheduled for today.

According to Kenya Airways, normal scheduled flight services are expected to resume in the evening.

"Due to the runway closure at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for military drills relating to Jamhuri Day celebrations, we anticipate minor disruptions for some of our flight departures and arrivals at JKIA," read the notice in part.

"We anticipate recovering our normal operations by 7 pm today. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause to your travels."

On the other hand, those who had planned to travel today were advised to monitor the status of their flight on the website.
