The Kenya Meteorological Department has disclosed that high daytime temperatures are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, North-western and parts of the highlands west of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and South-eastern lowlands.
In its weather forecast report on Tuesday, January 7, Kenya Met indicated that the daytime temperatures in the regions will exceed 30°C for the next seven days.
"Average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced over the Coast, North-eastern, North-western and parts of the highlands west of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and South-eastern lowlands," Kenya Met stated.
At the same time, the weatherman noted that low nighttime temperatures of below 10°C are expected in some parts of the highlands east of the Rift Valley, Central and South Rift Valley and South-eastern lowlands.
The coastal counties referenced in the forecast include Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County, while the North-eastern includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties.

The Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley and parts of the highlands west of the Rift Valley listed in the forecast include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok counties.
Similarly, the North-western region includes Turkana and Samburu counties, while the South-eastern lowlands include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County.
Kenya Met maintained that sunny and dry weather conditions are expected to prevail over most parts of the country.
However, the weatherman stated that occasional light to moderate rainfall may be experienced over a few areas in the highlands west and east of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, South Rift Valley, the coastal region and the South-eastern lowlands.
