Magoha’s Directive to All Head teachers as Schools Re-open

Primary and secondary school students are back to school seven months after the institutions were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier today, form four, class eight and grade four students reported to their respective schools across the country.

Speaking at Olympic Primary in Kibra while monitoring the resumption of learning, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George directed all headteachers and principals to ensure they closely monitor students with pre-existing conditions and take swift action when necessary.

According to Prof Magoha, all schools have been connected with medical facilities to report any suspected cases.

“I urge principals and teachers to compile a list of learners with preexisting conditions for example children with asthma, so that the necessary attention can be given to them,” said Magoha.

He urged headteachers to monitor and ensure strict adherence to the set measures including the use of face masks and hand sanitizers.

The Prof urged teachers to treat students as their children and guide through this difficult phase of life.

Magoha’s directive on school fees

The CS urged headteachers against sending students home for fees, noting that all students should remain in school during this period.

“For boarding schools, may I plead with principals to ensure that no child is sent home on account of school fees," he said.
