Uko na Machungu - Babu's Question to Ruto After Fiery Morning Tweet

President William Ruto on Friday, November 25, sparked a heated debate following his tweet on the four IEBC commissioners Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang'aya, Francis Wanderi, and Irene Masit who differed with chairman Wafula Chebukati on the presidential vote tallying and final results. 

In the tweet by Ruto, the Head of State hit back at ODM leader Raila Odinga after telling the four IEBC commissioners not to appear before the Nationa Assembly for grilling over the stance on the final presidential results. 

The President maintained that the four must be held accountable for their actions in the August polls. 

"The lords of impunity, who destroyed oversight institutions using the handshake fraud, should allow parliament to hold rogue officials who put the nation in danger by subverting the democratic will of the people to be held to account. The new order is the rule of law not wishes of big men," Ruto stated. 

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino was among the leaders who joined the debate asking the President whether he was okay. 

"Uko na machungu Mr.President,are you ok?" Babu tweeted. 

Odinga, while addressing the press on Thursday, advised the four commissioners not to appear before the national assembly terming it a witchhunt by Ruto. 

“This probe is politically motivated; it is a continuation of the witch-hunt mission that Ruto is on. We advise the commissioners to boycott it in the interest of constitutionalism and rule of law,” Odinga said.

There are four petitions seeking the removal of IEBC Vice Chairperson Cherera,  Masit, Nyangaya and Francis from office.
