Uhuru's Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita Announces Resignation Date as he Eyes Governor's Seat

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita has announced that he will be resigning on 9th February 2022 as he eyes the Machakos Governor's seat. 

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Waita stated that he would bid farewell to the President on the same date and ask for his blessings. 

"I will work till the 9th of Feb. I will make a farewell call to the president and ask for his blessings and support and thank him for allowing me to work for the people of Kenya in his service," Waita stated. 

Waita noted that he would convince the people of Machakos that their resources are in safe hands promising to transform the County. 

"I have no political experience; I am an administrator. The county has enough politicians, they don’t need more. I want to help the county manage its money and ensure people get the services they need," he said. 

Addressing a variety of issues touching on President Kenyatta's administration, Waita mentioned the Head of State had made significant investments in the country adding that the economy was healthy. 

"The economy in terms of pure statistics is healthy and growing well. The next government will need to be more innovative in how it funds public infrastructure and double down. 

"The reason why Kenya stands out among other countries in the continent is because it is taking its economy and infrastructure in the right direction. From 2019 to 2020, the country has pivoted more towards Public-Private partnership," Waita stated. 

He added, "I would grade the government at 70% majorly because of the adverse effects of Covid. Kenya continues to service its debt and use its debt funding for development in critical sectors that have immediate economic returns on the country."
