The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has issued a statement following an attack on a police vehicle that left a police officer and a civilian dead.
According to the statement issued by IPOA on Thursday, December 22, a Galmagalla Police Station vehicle was attacked resulting in the death of an officer and a member of the public in Bura East Subcounty, Garissa County.
"IPOA condemns in the strongest terms possible the inhuman act meted upon the civilian and the dedicated officer who was in the company of his colleagues carrying out their duties.
"The Authority sends condolences to the Inspector General of Police, all the members of the National Police Service, families and friends of those who lost their lives in the fatal attack. IPOA also wishes quick restoration of health to those who were injured in the attack," part of the statement read.

Police officers who were in the company of the officers are currently recuperating in one of the hospitals.
IPOA mentioned that they had made recommendations to the National Police Service arising from its monitoring operations of various attacks on police officers on duty and if implemented would contribute towards mitigating search attacks.
